I've been doing night shifts this week at work and boy am I glad.
We currently have 17 members of staff off sick the majority of which are covid related. The store manager has just tested positive, my line manager is in hospital with covid, several with positive test results and several self isolating due to contact with people who tested positive!!!
Even though our store has been open until midnight I've been working backstage so not with the customers on the shop floor.
There are 8 of us working through the night so nice and quiet.
Roll on 6am tomorrow morning when I'm done until next Monday.

Glad you're ok and backstage Stitch but so frightening to see how many people are getting Covid. Thank you and all your colleagues for doing such a brilliant job keeping stores stocked. I went to my M&S early doors today and it was so well organised I didn't feel too scared plus a Christmas elf gave me hand sanitiser! Enjoy your much deserved Christmas break x

Good on you @Stitch147! Without you we'd all be in deep trouble. All store workers are absolute heroes, right up there with the NHS and emergency services. Hope you have a lovely break from work x

I'm pretty sure he was an elf & safety officer as he was wearing a uniform - green tunic, red and white striped tights and pointy shoes! 😉
Ooo, I love a man in uniform. 😛

Bet they love that! Just trying to imagine what our only grandson, the 6ft 4ins one, gainfully employed as a cellarman/head barman/jack of all trades (cos there are lots of kitchen jobs he can do - much more than potwasher extraordinaire/waiting on by M&B and jealously guarded by his manager cos he's so multi skilled - or some of his best mates, one of whom is 6ft 9 and was training as a Grenadier Guard which he loved but has a bodily weakness to keep getting groin strains which only happened when on 'active' service training, not the marching or anything else, so he had an honourable medical discharge - they all played rugby and cricket for the local senior teams whilst still at school and after - would think about such a thing ...

Store workers face remarkable levels of criticism when things go wrong or sell out but generally you’re all doing an awesome job!

Glad to hear it @Stitch147

Hope you‘ve got a few days break coming up too.

Wouldn't feel safe working that store Stitch, surprised with such bad outbreak hasn't been closed. Keep safe mate.
It's because we're a simply food store, so class as an essential shop.

We now have over 20 members of staff of work!!! I'm now home after a hectic, busy and non stop night. The manager covering our store took the decision to close at 10pm instead of midnight. We got 3 hours of customer food order picked ready for collection. All the cash stuff I had to do was done. A few naughty chocolates were consumed.

I'm not back in work until 10am monday morning. Let the festivities begin.

Job well done, enjoy festivities & time off my friend.

Yes - put your feet up and above all, relax and recharge those batteries!
Feet are up in my comfy sheepskin slippers, having a cuppa and watching Christmas stuff on telly.

Now I have to isolate!!! Got pinged on the nhs test and trace app Christmas eve and have to isolate until 23.59 wednesday. A couple more days off work for me then.

@Stitch147 , take care. I hope nothing comes of the test&trace. Stay safe x
