Given jip for injecting?

WOW that is fantastic, were you told to put haemorrhoid cream on it as it helps it heal.
Yeah - Preparation H was The One - it was a very very gentle gel, so antiseptic and moisturising and hence excludes air to begin with - made using shark oil, so do they even make it now?

im used to having my injections in public well the common room where i live and am very open about it if asked The nurses who do my insulin used to ask me if i wanted to go to my room but now im not bothered and neither are any of the residents Mind you nurse is always discrete about it and stands in front of me hiding the evedence so to speak If someone was worried about it the first thing i wood tell them its a life saving treatment and nothing to be scared of

I'm slightly worried because I'm flying to Turkey in a couple of weeks and my insulin will be due mid flight. I've got a window seat so I guess I can just turn away from the person next to me to do it, but I'm wondering if I should mention it first, so they don't think I'm a drug addict or something?
I don't really want to go to a disgusting aeroplane toilet to inject.

I have injected on planes and trains without forewarning anyone and no one has commented.
My knowledge of illegal drugs is limited but they are always depicted on tv and movies as being injected with syringes, not pens. So, I don’t think there would be a confusion. If there is, this reflect ps badly on the other person, not me and, would such a suspicious person, believe someone they have unfairly prejudged when they draw attention to the injections?
I see no reason for you to worry, go to the toilet or say anything to other passengers. Just don’t make a scene … not that I imagine you would want to.

I have no wish to make a scene or otherwise draw attention to myself :D

It’s no different to injecting on a busy bus or train, just do it. No need to mention it unless the person next to you is throwing their arms all over the place or something when you’d ask them to keep them out of the way a minute whilst you do your jab

Yeah so far I've only ever done it at home

Speak to the flight attendant......they will have heard it many times before.....they will be happy to draw the curtains to the galley for 30 seconds to give you privacy

Hi Lisa,
Am sure you will be absolutely fine and just be discreet but confident and I know you will do just that.
Good to pose the question but in my experience we often build up/worry about a future event in our heads and then the reality is completely different.
Would be surprised if the person next to you will notice/ be bothered at all- may be asleep/ may be a medical professional/ May be diabetic or probably just not interested at all except maybe curious.
But no matter sure it will nit be an issue for you at all and enjoy your trip

Why?
That draws even more attention to it.
I strongly believe we need to just “do it”. It is very rare for people to notice unless you are making a fuss (and requesting special privileges).
I have mentioned before when my desk was directly in front of a colleague’s desk for a year before he noticed I had diabetes and I had been injecting there multiple times a day.

I inject walking along the street quite frequently if my high alarm (8.2) goes off. Got it down to a fine art!

My thoughts was being confined in a tight aircraft seat with hardly any wiggle room and sat next to at least one other person whos very very close she might actually want some room to inject.......and flight crew have probably dealt with it a zillion times so are happy to help

But im just a type two who dosnt need to inject so guess im not allowed an opinion on something that bothers a type one

That is not the case. We are all allowed an opinion.
But as for space to inject, you don’t need much space. As I mentioned, I have done it many times in my airline and train seat next to others.

I wasn’t joking about suggesting you start practicing!!
I should definitely get out more
Go to a cafe, a pub, a bus, a train, work, anywhere and practice. Use an empty pen and don’t press the plunger if you can’t be out when your actual jab is needed. It will make the injecting on a plane so much less scary if it’s the thousandth time you’ve done it outside of your home not the first time

That's a very good suggestion, thanks 🙂

I used to do this when I was mainly injecting in my thighs (mix-your-own) with syringes unless wearing shorts. With a pen nowadays I do it in situ.
