@Spathiphyllum thank you for sharing this paper it is very useful if you are treating your diabetes with injected insulin.
The tables do not appear to consider the option to suspend basal and not does it appear to consider any insulin on board.
With a pump, the former is possible (and I use it a lot when exercising) and the latter has a greater effect than just consider my current level. For example, if I have no bolus on board and suspended my basal 30 minutes ago, I am very comfortable doing intensive exercise starting lower than the tables suggest. However, with a level of 8 and IOB, I would be wary of hypoing, especially if I had not suspended basal.

I guess the point is that the table is a useful guide but, once again, we are all different.
