My gastro consultant called me this morning to say that my biopsies have come back as "normal", thankfully. He said that the gastroscopy showed a degree of slowed stomach emptying so he has referred me today for the gastric emptying study, which should be done within the next 3 weeks. He said he doesn't think I have gastroparesis as I don't actually vomit, but agrees I do have many of the other symptoms. Getting nearer to finding out anyway.

Glad to hear you are making some progress with finding out what's happening newbs 🙂

Sorry Newbs I've only just seen this. Really pleased that the biopsy results were fine. Hopefully you will soon know what the problem is so that it can be dealt with🙂

Glad the results were ok, what a relief for you. All the best with the next stage and lets hope they can come up with something to help you.

Thank you all. 🙂

Is vomming compulsory for gastroparesis then?

I've rarely vomited because of the gastroparesis - but the feeling of nausea, even with anti-nausea tablets, can be awful

Yes - I think I knew that nausea was a problem Amanda - it's fairly logical in fact, if your tum isn't emptying really - Newbs did you mean that rather than V'ing?

No, my consultant definitely said vomiting. I do have the nausea, which he knows, as I am on medication for that specifically.

Hi Newbs as I'm sure you know the domperidone will also stop any vomiting. It's obviously a personal decision but as the domperidone speeds up stomach emptying I would stop taking it 48 hours before the gastric emptying study so that the test is a "true" picture of how your tummy empties without the aid of medication - obviously this is just my personal suggestion but I think that stopping the domperidone gives a more accurate result.

Hi Amanda, thanks for your advice to stop the Domperidone, I will definitely be doing that as I want it to be as accurate as possible.
