Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Been diabetes for two years but the last month I have been having funny turns my tummy flutters then I get really shaky I usually eat something or drink something and 40 minutes later I am OK. I check my sugar thinking they are low but recently they gave been 8 to 15 so should I not be eating and having something sweet.
I have an appointment next week but these keep happening at least twice a day so needed some advice please

Hi Rachel, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear you are having problems :( Are you on any medication - anything you might have started recently or any changes you have made to your diet? When does the problem occur in relation to your meals? Good that you are able to check your levels and see that your blood sugar levels are not low. It might be better to have something savoury and low in carbohydrate rather than something sweet and see how you feel then - it might just be the act of eating something that settles things down, but if you eat something sweet when your levels are already on the high side they will only get pushed higher. What sort of levels have you been getting since diagnosis - is an 8 higher or lower than you normally see? If it is lower then you could be experiencing a 'false' hypo, where you get symptoms of low blood sugar when your levels aren't actually low but they are lower than you are used to. Have a handful of nuts instead when it happens and see how you feel afterwards.

Welcome to the forum, Rachel.
Good move to get an appointment, presumably with your GP? Just because you have type 2 diabetes, not every "funny turn" is due to diabetes, so you'll need to work together to find cause and treatment / solution.

Thank you I am on metforming slow release and glitzade. Yes recently I have been put on rampridrill for high blood pressure but when I went back to my normal hp he said it was more important to treat my blood pressure rather than diabetes. Can't wait to see the specialist on Tuesday

I would check the side-effects on the leaflet that came with the ramipril to see if anything sounds like what you are getting. I didn't get on with ramipril, but there are lots of alternative BP medications available, so easily changed 🙂
