Type 1
Hi I'm a new member of the forum, I wonder if anyone knows if type 1 primary school children are entitled to similar help as other disabled children, i.e funding for school from education authority for classroom support.

Welcome to the forum, Terryi. A full description of help that should be provided for children with type 1 diabetes in schools is here: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Your-child-and-diabetes/Schools/ You'll need to click on the buttons for Parents or Schools, whichever fits your situation. There is also extra information for topics such as residential school trips, exams etc.

Thanks copepod, I had read through much of that but I couldn't work out weather special needs funding would be available

Hello Terryi and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Glad you'd found the information. The important thing is that every child gets the right help to make the most of their time in school, not whether or not they get special needs funding. Are you a parent / guardian of a child with type 1 diabetes, or a member of school staff?
