Funding for the Diabetes Prevention Program cut in US...

The DPP is the long-running large longitudinal T2D study which has been foundational for T2D treatment and management practices. Columbia was apparently essentially project managing the program, channelinjg funding to a bunch of other institutions for various parts of the study.

Maybe sanity will prevail, saving the program from the scrap heap, one way or another. Or maybe not. The US seems to be doing its best to get rid of science.

Hope there’s a way it can be saved, and the work can continue.

I’ve tweaked the title of your thread to specify “the US”, as the UK has it’s own prevention programme, and I didn’t want folks being referred to that to get confused 🙂

The Motley Crew with whom RFK Jr is in cahoots err(or) on the keto/carnivore side 'the great divide', and include the likes of nutrition luminaries such as the Petersons. For absolutely no reason at all these people feel emboldened to pontificate about all things health, and especially diabetes, so i doubt they feel it's much of a loss (Quite the opposite, I'm guessing).

Just one more step towards the ill-advised low-carbification of the field of diabetes awareness :(

Trump Administration Cancels Crucial Funding for Diabetes Prevention Program.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has cancelled crucial funding for the nationwide Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP). For the last 30 years, the DPP gathered valuable data tracking patients with diabetes and prediabetes. Although the reasoning behind the move remains unclear, DPP investigators speculate this is a consequence of the Trump administration’s decision to rescind federal grants from Columbia University.

I merged your thread with an earlier one on the same topic @Amity Island
