Frustration

I agree with everyone else who's said don't be scared of going onto insulin, if that's what it takes to get your bgl down, Rosie. When I was diagnosed I was the opposite, I was so pleased they said I was type 1 and had to go on insulin, because I have type 2 friends and knew from them how unpleasant it was being on Metformin!

I was underweight when I was diagnosed and I struggled to get my weight back up to normal. Now I'm back to a healthy weight and staying there - I'd have to eat a huge amount to put on weight, the insulin (MDI) has absolutely no effect on me at all as far as weight is concerned. And I'm a grazer too - I eat small meals, and I always eat between meals as well - I just have to vary what I eat between meals depending on my bgl.

Sorry to hear your levels are not responding Rosie, it shouldn't be this hard for them to get it right. I know insulin is a scary thought, but I promise you it's not nearly as bad as you think it is right now, and the positive feeling of having control far outweighs the negatives to insulin. I personally don't care if I'm type 1 or type 2, except finding out means you get the right treatment, and that can only be a good thing. Don't be defeated Rosie, you can no more control what your body needs than you can the tides, the signals from the medical folk are often confusing because they can't cope with a condition that doesn't do as it's told, they're scientists, they expect everything to follow a rule, and the human body is an art not a science. Be an artist Rosie, take whatever brush they give you and make a masterpiece (I want to put a smiley wink but forum refuses!)
