Hi
I am wondering which fruits are the best to lower blood glocuse levels ? Heard bananas are a no no ? Berries ? I know are great but how many portions per day ? Etc ?
Fruits won't lower blood glucose as such but can be included in moderation as part of you dietary regime which should be limiting high carb foods.
Bananas, pineapple, mango, grapes are high carb, apples, oranges, pears, peaches, blueberries medium carb, other berries low carb.
People will be different in how much fruit they can tolerate and it can depend on what they eat it with. Probably better regarded as part of your meal rather than just picking at as extras.
If you are having berries with Greek yoghurt for breakfast, a portion is probably about 100g which would be about 6g carb. A small ,pear would be about 10g carb, a small apple10g carb, a small banana 15g carb, a small orange 5g carb. Fruit is tricky to know how many carbs as it all depends on the size and how ripe something is so it can only be an approximation.
Just count what you have as part of your carbs for the day.
