I love most fruit and am unsure what I should and should not eat. Whilst I have given up on bananas, I would love to carry on with apples and grapes etc. Most low carb experts say I should avoid. any suggestions please?
Berries are good - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc
Of your two options there, I’d say grapes were worse than apples. Do you test your blood sugar? You could test to see the effect a small apple had on it if you can’t do without.
We can't tell you what as the individual you are can tolerate I'm afraid, it'll be a case of testing before eating it and then again 2 hours after looking for no more than a 2-3mmol rise post eating
That is the only way we can find what foods can be classed as "safe" for the individuals we are

I used to eat tons of fruit. It doesn't seem as nice as it used to be, always hard and horrid. I loved peaches and nectarines but they're not the same either. We've had an apple in the fridge for a week now. Mum can't get her false teeth around it and I'm not interested even though it's a pink lady. I think Steve Jobs put me off.
I wouldn't mind a bowl of sliced bananas but they'd have to have a tin of Ambrosia custard on top.
Anything with berry in its name is often tolerated better, but how many and when is a different matter .
Having said that, through self testing I have found that if my BG level are in good range I can eat , one of the following , an Apple a ripe pear, a ripe peach or a nectarine with no active insulin. With berries I can eat quite a big bowl full without insulin.
Others are not so lucky .
If you don’t test it would well worth investing in a glucose monitor just to discover which foods and fruits you can and can’t tolerate as we are all so very different in this respect .
Many here use Gluco Navii and it’s test strips as a pot of 50 test strips cost £8
We use the mmol/l measurement in the U.K.

As you can see from the replies you already have, there are many variations in the way that various fruits impact our blood glucose levels. It can even vary according to the time of day that we eat them and what we eat them with.
As @Ljc suggests, using a meter to measure the effects, is a way of finding out your own tolerances, and which ones may cause spikes.
What I find matters more to me, rather than the effect of individual fruits, is the total number of carbs that I eat in a day. So if I indulge in a particularly high carb fruit then I need to cut down on something else.
We have apple trees in the garden and the fruit is ripe. I ate a few - really, just a few, and my weight increased.
I cut right back on all carbs and have lost it, and more quite quickly - I have much more normal reactions these days, but I can't take liberties without consequences.
