frozen shoulder

Karen you shouldnt ask but........Well my hunky gorgeous man taught me the technique.....but I think it was because he was fed up with me shouting for help because I couldn't get the bra on:D. Worst bit was when he was at work one day, I was dressing to get ready for work and nearly couldn't get the bra on..........wouldn't bother me too much but years ago, in another job, I got told off for going to work without wearing a bra! I've never been one to conform:D Anyway I digress. Technique involves as much as you can putting bra together as if you were going to fasten it at the front........but my arm doesn't stretch that far so you kind of put it in position on the floor then step into it to then do it up. PLEASE do not imagine me trying to do this but it does work....but my illustration of how to do it isn't very good......going now because my mind imagines someone else reading this and getting the wrong idea .....

Ha ha well the explanation was well worth the wait! In all seriousness, poor you - at least I can do mine at the front and twizzle it round but now that the sympathy is done I can't help but giggle! And you - being told off for not wearing a bra to work - well, what can I say!!!! What a damn cheek of whoever told you!!

Oh dear, what a laugh we have on here!

I've had a frozen shoulder for nearly two years too. Doc was no help at all, just said it would get better eventually. It is much better than it was and I can almost lift it up again. Like you other ladies, putting my bra on is a comedy in itself. I stand at the bottom of the bed with my back to it, throw my bra round on the bed, keeping hold of one end, catch the other and fasten at front then twizzle it round.:D

I'm not sure I should be reading this thread 😱

Very sorry to hear about all the problems people are having, it certainly sounds quite commonplace. :(

Thanks ladies (and Northerner) for all the replies, it's nice to know I'm not alone in this. Some replies have made me laugh (not too hard it's hurts my shoulder!). It's a beautiful day up in North Cumbria and I am about to get ready to go out so (Northerner close your eyes at this) I will be trying some of the bra putting on techniques. I would love to go bra-less but alas at 51 I'm not prepared for broken knees and black eyes if I need to run for the bus. I'm afraid I need my "over the shoulder boulder holder". Good luck to everyone suffering, keep up with the exercises and the bra twizzling. Elaine x x

Both my shoulders are frozen..

Not sure which is the worst though, the frustration of the lack of mobility in the arms or the pain😱

There are times when you see the funny side of things, such as the totally confused/bemused look on family face when for no apparent reason you end up doubled up on the floor in floods of tears... Just because you moved your arm and set off a spasam...

I've now perfected a canterlever action to get out of bed in the mornings when my arms are numb... Just got to ensure that one of the dogs isn't laying by the side of the bed though..

And the bug bear of having to wait for a bath until about 11pm when Les is on afternoons, as I darn't have a bath without him being around, as need help with hair washing, drying and getting out the bath (we don't have a shower)

The only plus is that everybody things Les is a gentlemen when he helps me with taking on and off my coat😱

Thankfully my right shoulder is now starting to ease and the pain has really subsided but alas I haven't gained back much mobility not sure how much of this will come back but I do push it on a daily bases to increase mobiity..

My treatment well has been pain killers when I needed them, but I do have a strong pain threshold, so not taken these that often, I was offered a steriod injection but decided against it, due to the affect on my blood glucose control.. If the mobility doesn't come back I could have a rotary cuff op, where they shave a bit of to free everything up, but knowing me I very much doubt I will go down that route..

Elaine you poor thing, my OH has had it twice first one he ended up on morphine and then had the op which sorted it, second he got to physio early so managed to keep it mobile and got through it, if you can afford to pay for a physio I'd say self refer promptly and they might be able to help you keep it mobile, sometimes the docs take so long to see what happens you get past the point of no return where it really gets very immobile and you have to have an op but have to wait in pain for the right time for the op...
