I mean obviously we don't know the whys and wherefores but whatever in this day and age was a girl of 15 doing NOT on MDI?

Simple, they were too scared to change.

All the kids at our clinic (I'll say used to) start on mix. This girl was diagnosed 6 months before Carol. Her dad has diabetes too and is still on mixes. I've been trying to persuade her mum for a few months to change her onto MDI before I gave up. And her hubby too, but she wasn't having any of it. Her hubby works shift too.

And I know of another mum who only just changed her teen daughter onto MDI. But I think this girl did the same as Carol for a while - mix in the morning, rapid at dinner and levemir at bedtime.
