Hi Jon,
To stay "within range (3.9-10mmol)" most (70%) of the time is an achievement for any diabetic and that is all that matters really from a blood glucose perspective. My daytime graphs swing up and down all the time, I have had flat line days, but they are rare. Like you said, the night time level-ish results are great because you're asleep and it doesn't require any effort, just a matter of having the right basal dose of insulin, which takes time to get to.
The libre makes all this a lot easier.
