Anyone got any advice on this. Am I right in thinking you just need the 2 sensors for the month and also download the app? Thanks

Hi, hope you’ve had a good Christmas!

Yes a sensor usually lasts 14 days so 2 for the month and you need to download the LibreLink app for scanning the sensor. This is compatible with most smartphones but if not compatible with your phone, you can also use a reader instead.

I also like to have some spare libres as occasionally they can be faulty, fall off etc but provided nothing goes wrong then yes they last 14 days.

Hope that helps!

A sensor last 2 weeks and you need to download the app or pay extra for the reader. Then set up the app ( I can’t remember how to set up the app so can’t help sorry)

Thanks both. Thought I might need a reader as well but my phone is fairly up to date so should be OK. Think it will revolutionise my diabetes control. Thanks and Happy Christmas

I’m just going to tag @everydayupsanddowns as having an email as your username isn’t a good idea

I know the two systems that support the libre are phones on ios (apple) and android phones

You’re welcome, it has definitely been life changing for me having this! And yes don’t ‘need’ a reader unless you have a slightly older phone that perhaps isn’t compatible with the app but if you have a more modern smartphone you can just use the app - that’s what I do 🙂

You can set up the app in advance - by downloading it and then logging in your details so it’s on your account so it can be seen by your diabetics clinic or nurse

Thankyou. Am type 2 but in transport most of the day so really difficult to check. Is it easy to set up?

I've downloaded the app but can't pass the sensor bit

Fair enough, yes some jobs it’s a lot more difficult to be able to check levels regularly, my job makes this challenging too! It is pretty straight forward yes, you just set us an account which only takes a few minutes and you just follow the steps so isn’t too bad.

You also have the option to share your libre data with your health care team which I do so that every time I scan and get a reading, it automatically sends it to them so when it comes to appointments, I don’t need to worry about uploading any data, it does it for me automatically. But of course this is your choice and you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, I just personally find it quicker and easier.

In terms of applying the sensor itself, are you confident with this or do could you do with some advice on this too? Happy to help if you would like some info on how to do this as it can be a bit confusing at first 🙂

There is a way of getting past this without scanning the sensor. This was cause I was on a zoom meeting with the diabetes clinic and one of the people from Abbott.I have no idea how tho

It's this point I'm stuck at. I haven't ordered the sensors yet.
Oh ok I see, I’m afraid I’m not too sure how to skip past that without scanning as I have just always scanned a sensor so sorry about that! Like @Lily123 says, there is a way but not entirely sure I’m afraid, sorry I can’t be of more help!

Will I be able to do it as soon as buy the sensors?

You should be able to yes, as soon as you have the sensors, you can apply one and scan it.

It has a 1 hour warmup time so you will have to wait 60 mins before you can use it but once it’s done it’s warmup it should be good to go!

Just to inform you though the first 1-2 days can give you slightly lower readings in my experience so if it gives you any readings you don’t agree with eg it doesn’t match how you feel, you should double check it with a finger prick test.

Hope that helps!
