I've got the libre 1 but stopped using it several months ago.
My dsn who is new and so have not yet met due to the covid-19 sent me a link to be able to get the freestyle libre 2 which arrived several months ago but I've not used it yet - I'm now deciding whether to give it a go but is it easy to set up?

Very easy.
Do you have a reader? If you have a Libre 1 reader, you will need to replace it but it a replacement is free from the Libre website.
If you use a phone app, you need to ensure you have the latest version of the app (download it from the App Store).
Then, the only difference from Libre 1 is the chance to set alerts if your blood sugars go too high or too low. You will have to set your alert levels. These can be different to your in range values to give you a chance to react before going out of range.
Apart from that, you start a Libre 2 sensor and scan it in the same way as Libre 1.

I discovered yesterday that I had to install something on Libreview to recognise the the Libre 2 instead of the Libre I originally set it up with. Made total sense of course - simply hadn't expected it, is all.

I got it all set up with my daughters help & I've now got the sensor on my arm

Just alarms & reader that's different from 1, make use of alarms as great feature of 2.

Can’t wait to try the Libre 2 just got to use the Libre 1s I have left first.

Anyone help ? I don't have the Freestyle libre - but am very keen to use it. Seen the 14 day free trial. I am checking with my GP to see if I can get this on prescription. I'm in England. Since March 2020 I have worked from home, but due to go back to the office in June. On a recent visit to collect paperwork I was aghast at the disgusting state of the office, to be advised it hasn't been cleaned since before Christmas - and evidenced by the Christmas Tree box still sitting in reception! Clearly this isn't going to be good to be finger pricking in such a state. I have mentioned this to the bosses but nothing has been done as yet. Can't say I am keen to return to office working. Anyone help with info about the Freestyle libre. Its very expensive for the sensors if I don't qualify for it on prescription.

I recommend
- review the NICE Libre guidelines to find out if you qualify for them on prescription or what changes you could make. A dirty office is not a qualification criteria. You should be able to find the guidelines using Google
- check your phone is compatible. The main thing you need is NFC.
- order a free Libre 2 from the Freestyle website before the trial runs out. Some people don’t get on with them so worth checking they are accurate enough for you and that you are not allergic to the glue they use.
- review the pricing on the Freestyle website in case you cannot get them on prescription.

I would also discuss what your employer is planning to do to make your work environment COVID safe. i am sure they will be cleaning it before mandating you to go in.

Last time I saw figures (a few months ago now) 37% of people with Type 1 were being prescribed Freestyle Libre (so well over the minimum goal of 20%). So your chances are pretty good, and I'd definitely recommend pressing your GP (and hospital team, if you see them).

Ha ha - sorry, I didn't mean that the office being dirty would qualify me. Just slotted that in because of the present finger testing I have to do.

Thank you for this. Very promising.
