For the past 2 years I have successfully been using the Freestyle Libra system of monitoring my blood sugar levels which was programmed to my mobile phone. However, it failed about 6 weeks ago and I am temporarily using the old finger pricking tests. My diabetic clinic is not accessible at present but I have been issued by post with a replacement reader unit which needs to be programmed. As an 83year old this is a daunting prospect for me - I have very little experience of modern technology. my previous monitor was set up for me by a professional I.T consultant who is not working during the present Covid restrictions. Any advice or experiences would be very welcome. Thank you.

I self fund the Libre so I have never had any one set up the reader for me. Abbott have videos on their website.

When you say it has ‘failed’ do you mean the reader has stopped working?

Glad they are replacing the reader. If you were using the reader to provide bolus advice before I think you may need to use the code caa1c to unlock that functionality.

Do you have a record of your insulin:carb ratios, and correction factors?

Hope you can get in contact with your DSN to help you set it up. A phone consultation should be possible?
