Dex certainly can be used on the abdomen. Lots of other sites too.

I used to place Enlites for my old pump on my abdomen (trying to avoid any area that creases or bends too much... but in the end I recognised that it was a tricky location for me, so shifted to... backs of arms!

I’ve worn all my dexcoms on back of upper arm, and it’s a great location for me.

If you are thinking it might turn into self funding, it would be worth looking up restarting G6s. I get 2x life out of mine, with no apparent drop in performance.
Might try the abdomen lol

Sadly it won't be something I'll be self funding, a 3 pack of sensors costs more than I get a fortnight and obviously i have bills to pay etc but excited to try it out

Regarding other parts of the conversation ongoing on the thread, I saw Partha Kar posted on social media that in 2021 if you were Type 1 and pregnant you have access to any non invasive glucose monitoring you want whether it be a CGM or a Libre xx

Two snags with Partha's comment

1. Becoming pregnant is not a universal option for type 1s

2. In the finish, pregnancy costs an awful lot more money than self funding CGM .......

:D

Yes there was a bunch of research about improved outcomes in pregnancy with the extra monitoring.

Not quite sure when the change is supposed to happen, or if it has already started.

Edit: Provision was supposed to be ‘well established’ by March this year. posted this a while back

Just had confirmation that DPD are due to deliver it tomorrow, current Libre is quite accurate but VERY uncomfortable, only the 2nd bleeder I've had in my almost 2 years of having them! xx

This second one of mine isn't as close to my BGs as the first one was, but still 12 days to go on it so won't know until the third whether 'which arm it's in' makes a difference - as of Weds late afternoon I'll have a lot more finger bodging anyway as 2nd jab booked for them and being Pfizer, I approach the possible aftermath with some trepidation .......

Thanks for posting this @Kaylz. I’ve signed up so hopefully a sensor winging its way to me this week.

My free dexcom is arriving this morning.
Being in the incredibly privileged position of having Libre 2 on prescription, I am undecided what I am going to do with the Dexcom.
So far (I am on my third sensor), I am finding Libre 2 much more accurate than Libre 1 but it definitely takes longer to bed in. Using xDrip allows me to calibrate and make it a CGM.

But I am curious about the Dexcom in terms of accuracy and comfort.
Maybe I'll have an overlap so I can compare the Libre and Dexcom.

I've not got the Libre 2 yet, it may be in my next prescription but I'll just have to wait and see as I no longer have any part in my prescription lol

I was thinking about wearing both at the same time too! xx

That's what I thought I'd do - overlap the first 5 days then see how it does on its own. But it depends when it arrives - off to Yorkshire soon for a 5 day break which won't really be a "typical" test - fish & chips in Whitby and all!

1 dexcom on it's way - currently self funding libre occasionally, so it will be good to trial this, although looking at the price, much too costly to self fund the dexcom
