I am type 1 on a pump and have been up to now buying these sensors to monitor my blood sugar levels. I live in Surrey and despite these sensors being available on prescription from 1st November subject to local funding neither my local hospital or GP will issue me a prescription. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how can it be escalated?

We are in the same position in Oxfordshire. The CCG has put it on the black 'do not prescribe' list. It's certainly proving to be a postcode lottery. The only way you can get it here is through a hospital, and then you'd have to make out a case for being an exception to the rule, I think.

Our CCG has made it on a case by case basis - you have to apply for it, but as far as I know, so far they haven't released the criteria for approval.

No luck for me either. Hospital (Hampshire) won’t fund both the pump and libre (and I’m not giving up the pump) and gp (West Sussex) has been told not to prescribe. I’m trying for a baby too, so would be prime person to get it according to nurse.

We had to go through the hospital and the Diabetes team decided who met the criteria. I was a lucky one.
