Hi I fractured my big toe 6 weeks ago and have been having high b/s readings ever since. My Dr says this is because my body is still in trauma while the toe is heeling. Has anyone heard of this before?

Thanks,
James

Yeah it's a pretty normal thing. Your liver dumps glucose into your body to give healthy people the energy to fight infections or heal wounds, but for diabetics because they can't handle the glucose it just raises the blood sugar level.

Hopefully your levels will settle down soon. I’ve broken a few toes in my time , very ouchy.

Welcome to the forum @Jimblue.

Very common indeed try and keep your levels within range
this will help the healing process, don`t walk around your home
without footwear on. Pay particular attention to your feet wash
and inspect them everyday then a good moisturiser all over them
but not between the toes because of risk of infection, do not soak
your feet either for the same reason hope this helps.

Hope your toe heals quickly @Jimblue and your BG settles down.

Welcome to the forum 🙂
