Fracture clinic

I was going to say exactly the same as Bruce! Sadly it's true - as my (late) mother in law told us when we were around 50, and laughed at her - 'Old age don't come on its own, you know!'

My kneecap took a while but not as long as Pete's leg did about 14 years ago - knee was just a few extra weeks whereas his leg was months and his broken collarbone from the same accident never has knitted back together - you can't avoid moving it when your leg's in plaster, can you?

Interesting perspectives Bruce and Jenny but my fracture clinic doctor doesn’t seem to think that my age has anything to do with the very slow healing.

I can see that, because without any doubt, I have noticed that I heal much slower from everyday sort of things, since diagnosis. I mean I have a small scratch on my finger, which has been there for about a week, is not infected, but is still not completely gone, whereas in the past, it would be at the same stage after a day or so. Not on the same scale as your foot problems, but still shows an apparent fact. 🙂

Curiously - with my knee I had a 14 inch incision from above that knee down my shin and at my first clinic appt 10 days post op, they were going to remove some of the staples. Oooer - they had one HELL of a job getting em out cos so much skin had grown over em. And that, is how I have always healed and still do.

I have not really noticed any difference with healing either with ageing or Diabetes.
