Would it be possible to have a spell checking facility incorporated into the forum LOL🙂
That would save me an enormous amount of time revisiting my posts to correct my typos.
I actually have never learned to read what I actually type, just type and send and assume my fat fingers hit the correct keys.
I type as if I were talking with someone and it tends to be spontaneous. and fast. Say it, get it out, send.
Always been an issue haha
I once sent a colleaque years ago a very long email regarding a complex issue.
Type and send.
I knew what I intended to say and it was crystal clear in my brain and I literally thought that is what I had typed.
15 minutes got a phone call asking me to explain "what the h*((" i had just written.
When I rechecked it, absolute garbage but I was convinced my fat fingers did their job efficiently.
Obviously not.
I do have a dictionary facility on my Mac but it doesn't seem to work here haha:(
I know I need to retrain my fingers but maybe that will be a lost cause after so many years.
Auto text correct would be a distaster for totally different reasons, but that is a another story completely.
Just an idle thought on this cold morning .🙂

When I type a post here and spell something incorrectley (like there!) the word is underlined in red as soon as it is completed, so there is a spell check at play. I wonder if it is down to the operating system or browser being used? It doesn't auto-correct. Having spent my life as a linguist and programmer I can't bear to spell things incorrectly, as that could lead to a non-working program or language misinterpretation 😱 In fact, I remember once discussing with a programmer friend how our profession made us excellent proof readers as we were so used to spotting errors in things like spelling, grammar or syntax - we often had to return things to the marketing department covered in corrections! 😱 🙂

I use Safari Northie and it has a spell checker etc are part of the system but for some reason it doesn't work on this forum.
I will just have to be more careful I guess lol

Interesting, I will look into it and see if there is a setting somewhere 🙂

I'm using Safari on my iPad, and I've got the autocorrect switched on, as do many people, I think, trouble is, it doesn't spot when you've just used a wrong word, which is why we get a lot of people keeping Dairies for their blood results. (A whole herd of cows seems a bit overkill to me)

I'm horrified - just noticed I wrote 'to' instead of 'too' 😱 😱 😱 😉
Bottom of the class Northie and no sweeties for you when Santa comes.

I just though it was deliberate Alan like what me just didn't.

You mean you actually understood what marketing had written?

Firefox has a checkbox for 'check spelling as you type', misspelled words get a red squiggly line and a right click gives alternative words.

I find that the autocorrect can be quite entertaining!!

I use Safari because I use a MacBook and a iMac at home and they just transfer data etc from one to the other hand over I think it is called. That means everying I do in China for example on my MacBook is automatically available on my iMac at home.
Will look at Firefox and educate my fingers.
