Hungarian is a fiendishly difficult language - good luck with that! 😱 🙂
We are planning on moving to Hungary sometime in the next few years, hence the books. Going there later this year to look at houses.

Wow, that will be quite a change! Good luck with the language learning and your plans 🙂 I learned a little Hungarian a while ago because I was booked to run in the Budapest Marathon. Unfortunately, that was a couple of months after I got diagnosed with diabetes and I was unable to go :( So diabetes cost me two overseas marathons as I was booked to run Stockholm the week I was due to go there! One of my favourite Eurovision songs ever was the Hungarian entry in 1994 🙂 I find reading plays and listening to songs in the language is a good way to learn without getting bodded down in complicated grammar and vocabulary 🙂

Lets hope the taste has improved from back then. Vile was the only way to describe it then and bad enough to put anyone off of jam for life.
We'll have to wait for Ralph's verdict
I was considering donating it to a local food bank. I haven't been having jam for going on 20 years, because of the sugar content (only know I'm diabetic for 3 years). Most notable except was when I was in hospital. (Cerial and/or toast and jam for breakfast. Or bread and jam in one, as the toaster set the fire alarm off :/)

I see they have cheekily got round the rule about not being able to label things 'diabetic' by advertising a 'diabetic' recipe book on the label instead! 😱 🙄
Yes. And I bet there will be a thing in a while about it being misleading, people thinking it diabetic jam. Interesting use of font and colour.

Have you tried Duolingo. A free app which encourages you to do a little learning everyday. I am not sure how conversational the stuff you learnis but the little and often worked well for me.

Tech ?

Have you looked into the healthcare system there Mark? It would be a major consideration to me as I understand registered non nationals who are not working there and paying into the system through work can only receive emergency medical services.

I got a Titanic model kit, a USB vinyl to MP3 turntable, some Green & Blacks chocs & two books to learn Hungarian.🙂

Be careful with those Hungarian phrasebooks Mark. :D

I will look into that. Thanks.

We have done some research. From what I've read, private healthcare is the best route and is not too expensive. Free healthcare is available with a ehic card. Wife has dual nationality (she is part Irish) and is applying for an Irish passport. Therefore, she will remain an EU citizen.

Oh good move Mark. You’ve obviously done your homework! Hope it goes well, exciting times 😛

Bit late on this, but my best pressie was a traditional shaving set with proper shaving soap, a badger hair shaving brush, and a pack of Wilkinson Sword razor blades with a safety razor. I kid you not, this kit gives me the best shave I’ve ever had. The shaving soap beats any foam or gel you care to mention, and a trad razor gives you a better shave than any multi blade contraption. And it’s cheaper by far. You just need the leisure time to enjoy it. :D

And keep your wives, girlfriends or same sex partners off the kit. Let ‘em get their own.🙄
