Hi, First time post.
I need to get my nails cut, the practice I normally go to is obviously closed, are there any ways I can get my nails cut as I can’t reach them and they are now very very long?
 
as a diabetic I need my nails cutting. I am unable to do this for myself. My usual podiatrist is on shutdown, how can I get my toenails cut, any ideas?
 
Hello @BluePeter21 welcome to the forum, I don`t think you will have much joy at the moment unless you have someone sharing your home with you that would be able to do it for you. I have mine done every six weeks at the local hospital but that has been cancelled until further notice.

Perhaps you could contact your GP or diabetes nurse to ask where podiatry services are still available. Many things have shut down, but there is certainly an understanding that many of these regular appointments and services are still required even under the current lockdown circumstances.

I will ask DUK to see if they have any additional information about the availability of these regularly required services during the extended shutdown.
 
I also have difficulty cutting toenails, but I can still manage. I mentioned the problem to my wife and she suggested long-handled/reach clippers or scissors. Would those make the process any easier? I used Google to come up with this: long-handled nail clippers.
 
I’ve checked with Diabetes UK, and it does seem that many routine appointments such as toenail cutting are generally on hold for the time being, but that care is still available where there is a risk of infection, risk to foot health, or risk of pain if something goes untreated.

This decision tree for podiatrists was helpful to know which circumstances would still be treated promptly I thought:

 
I had to do mine myself. I never do mine, I can't get down there! Dunno how I did it but needs must, the only one I couldn't get to was the little piggy on the right. My sisters had to come yesterday with masks on to do Mum's, no choice, her nails were curling under and she has two big toes with fungal nails, proper nasty, took my sister ages to chop those. I don't think my brother was best pleased that they'd come down but what else could we do?
