Hi. I have had a very painful corn between my big toe and the next toe.
I have visited the N H S podiatrist and all she does is keep shaving some skin off the corn.
'The corn needs to be removed' but it's difficult to find anyone on NHS who will do this.
I have had to resort to going private !!
Which is against everything I believe in.
It's not the cost, it is the principal.
Has anyone else had this problem please ?
Thank you.

Hi @Dee123 and welcome

Podiatry provision does seem to have suffered lately and it is very specific - from my experience in my area- what is provided and covered.
Nails and skincare are classed as personal care where I live and I've been told to pay privately, I'm very high risk in a cast and am paying privately every 7 weeks for podiatry after being advised to have an amputation but I'm trying to prolong the life of my leg for as long as possible. It is a conundrum that parts of my feet - sensation and pulses- are high risk and covered by the NHS but the rest of my high risk feet are deemed personal care and not covered.

There is so much emphasis rightly so on foot care but trying to find it anywhere other than privately seems a challenge and is patchy in different parts of the country. I hope your foot is healing well after your surgery.

Thank you so much for your kind reply.
I dismay at the way us Diabetes are treated of late. For you to have to pay for treatment every 7 weeks, is diabolical.
You have obviously tried, the same as me and as you say, a lot of foot problems are deemed as personal care. We try our best to look after ourselves by injecting, pumps and eating healthier but are not getting the help we need, even though we are told to look after our feet !!
It is a farce really. I don't want to start on a political rant but it seems to me, that the government are trying their hardest to push people into private care. It is a terrible situation that you are in.
Please take care of yourself and I hope your foot problem can get sorted out.
