I had my scheduled foot check up today and all went well only hard skin removed as per normal. The toe with the black nail bed was given the all clear and she does not think I will loose the nail 🙂 .

As an added bonus weighed my as they have some scales in the room and it looks like I have lost 3 may be 4 kilos as from memory I was over 130 kilos a couple of weeks ago just can't remember how much over, only another 27 to go or 7 to keep the doc happy, 17 kilos will see me happy.

Well Done Pav
Your weight will reduce in time.
You can remove the hard skin yourself using an Scholl Pedi
such as this

then use a moisturiser like Flexitol
Just a thought

Great news Pav, especially about the toe with the black nail bed.

Hi Vince, I used to remove the hard skin myself, but got told off as I am classed in the high risk group, not even supposed to cut my toe nails, but I do if they grow too long between the 3 monthly check ups. I also use Balneum cream as at the moment that one works, without it my feet are like crazy paving with cracks.

Ok Pav
I found a terrifc improvement in my feet condition when I went onto low carb and lost weight
I found one of those Pedi did help a lot and you cannot apply to much pressure because they have a safety mechanism which turn it off.
I very rarely use mine now.
I went and had a pedicute a couple of weeks ago because I hate cutting my toe nails but I do that also.
Everyone is different and following the advice given is the best option .
Mine used to be as you describe
Now they are like a baby's lol

Sounds good then the shcoll pedi, as one of their concerns was I would take too much hard skin off and cause other problems, which would be harder to sort out.

The only warning I got today was to make sure to always wear something on my feet as they have seen people catch their toes on furniture and as a result have had them amputated. :(

That's one of the hardest things I've had to get used to is always wearing slippers at home. My oh is an engineer and works from home there is always metal swarf on the floor in our house.

Yes they are correct about wearuing things on your feet.
If your foot sensitivity is fine then you should be fine.
My Ex mother in law who was a type one did that and lost her toes after gangrene developed.

Sensitivity in the toes varies with levels with me the higher the level the less I feel. The nail turned black over Xmas and still don't know how I did it, and no appointments were available with the podiatry team only drop in centres a few miles away and as advised went to the docs who fitted me in the same day, thankfully there was no infection, just got to wait months for it to return to normal colour.
