New to diabetes still trying to get my head round what I can can’t eat. Is there a difference in what type1 and 2 can eat? Or should it be similar diet. Looking on the receipt page for ideas living on green veg and salad with fish or chicken/turkey at the minute small piece of fruit as a snack

Are you Type 1 or Type 2? I only ask as your profile states Type 2 but I see you are on insulin but say your new to diabetes? How long have you been diagnosed?
There is no right or wrong things to eat, what we have to do is see if our choices work for us, we do this by testing before we eat and then again 2 hours after, ideally we are hoping for no more than a 2-3mmol rise in bg
I see you are on fixed units, have you asked your team about carb counting?
xx

Type 2 and I was diagnosed Sunday 22nd just over a week ago they put me on insulin straight away as I had had a heart attack and my sugars where very high 19.4 when I got to hospital.apart from 2 quick visits from Diabetic nurse. I’m waiting for an appointment from my GP s nurse so hopefully then I can get more advice. Luckily people on here are helping out so much everyone’s been amazing.
