Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello All,I had good blood figures last year and thought I was somewhat free but I was wrong I think.Have been getting extreme dry mouth, sweats etc.My weight is ok,cholestral borderline. So need to maintain weight with an exciting diet.Any help would be much appreciated.I’ve never asked for help before, and believe this is a marvellous facility.

I hate to shatter your illusions but if you've been getting dry mouth and sweats then perhaps all is not quite as rosy as you think.

Do you know what your HbA1c is/was?
Do you know your BMI? (not that it's a really useful stat but it is one the NHS focus on)

And what kind of things do you eat now? Do you know how they impact your blood glucose levels (so do you test at home is what I'm really asking I guess)?

I realise I have some problems.Hba1cjuly 21 was 38 I relaxed a little since then.My bmi is ok.I was doing odd blood test, and they were ok up to January.Just ordered new slips today.I keep of sweets.I don’t drink a lot.We have our evening meal late 7-8.I eat most other things which I’m going to have to change.I believe age as well

As your last HbA1C was nearly a year ago I should ask your GP for another test so you know where you are now as your symptoms indicate maybe your blood glucose has gone up.
It is not just about keeping off the sweets and sweet things but keeping a watch on ALL carbohydrates. You can still have low carb tasty meals.

What's your normal day look like regarding food?

What's your typical breakfast, lunch, dinner/tea etc?

Let's see if we can help you with some easy menu changes.

Break—cereal(porridge,shredded wheat,or corn flakes/toast with butter/tea.
lunch—sandwich,cheese and tom,ham,chicken—usually apple
may have cheese and crackers mid afternoon
dinner—sunday dinner—pasta dish—steak or gammon with pots and 3veg—curry or pizza once a week most common dinners

I'm sorry to say many of those foods you mention are not too good as choices for Type 2 diabetics.
cereal, bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, pizza are all high carb foods, so you might want to look for some alternatives or reduce your portions of them to a minimum.
Full fat Greek yoghurt with berries or eggs for breakfast.
Salad with meat, cheese and maybe coleslaw for lunch
You can use alternatives for standard pasta, like black bean or edamame bean pasta or courgette or other veg to go with the pasta sauce. People often use cauliflower rice with curry or in stir fries.
You can use butternut squash, celeriac, swede instead of potatoes as they are much lower carb.
How much you need to do will depend on what your blood glucose is when you start testing. More than 2-3mmol/l increase form before to 2 hours after after your meal would indicate too carb heavy. You would be aiming at no more than 8.5mmol/l post meal.
