I generally get a letter inviting me for my annual flu jab in September. These are open surgeries on set days ( usually a Saturday) and you just walk in. Because we’ve been away since 15th September I suspected the letter was on the door mat and I’d missed my slot. They only usually do two days, one for us youngsters and the other for the oldies. But lo and behold whilst out trekking through the Black Forest today, I received a text, from my GP surgery “ Elaine is eligible for a free flu jab, please attend blah blah blah 9th November” how very modern and informal! Ah well at least I haven’t missed it! 🙂

You can’t escape @eggyg ! Something for you to look forward to on your return🙂

Last year I had mine at the end of September. I thought I’d be Mrs efficient this year and phoned in plenty of time for an appointment. I was informed that the over 65s were getting their jabs first and that as the vaccine only lasted 3 months, we would get ours slightly later this year, to cover the higher risk months. No idea if this is right, but I’ll be in a queue with arm exposed at 9.03, on a Saturday in a couple of weeks 🙂

I have been receiving a text for a few years now. Which is a bit strange as I don't seem to get them for routine appointments at GP, but do for other NHS appointments.

Baloney! There’s been a delay in producing the vaccine.

Ha ha, I don’t really mind why, just as long as I get it, no point questioning her🙂

Maybe she was trained along the same lines as an assistant in a high street clothes shop that I questioned recently. I asked if this particular style of jean were slightly shorter than usual, yes he said, it’s because they’re slightly higher wasted...I couldn’t be bothered to say anything , I thanked him and left🙂

Had mine on 23rd September. I used to work in NHS and had mine for about 30 yrs courtesy of occupational health. I retired at 64 and was ineligible for NHS so went to Boots and paid. I am now on their books so generally go there; saves my surgery another one to worry about!!!! Was pre-diabetic, gone back to normal, although would like it lower, hence not eligible for NHS jab before 65.

Had mine a week ago in the chemist as it is easier than making an appointment at the doc's I always get a text reminder from the doc's

Popped into local pharmacy and had it done there and then. Much less hassle than going to surgery for an appointment. Will also help to keep local pharmacy open - its where i collect my pills and stuff so the longer it stays the better.

We both had ours at the pharmacy too. Very much easier than trying to get a doc's appointment as others say. I don't care who does it providing they've been trained and have to say not a bit of discomfort and only remembered when I lay on that arm, that night in bed cos I'd forgotten by then!

The last few years I have had mine at my Doctors drop in sessions. Before that my Asthma check used to be at Flu Vaccine time and would have at the same time.
