What is everyone's opinion of the flu jab. To have it or not?

I have had mine for the past 3 years, last one was on September 29th the day of my Diagnosis. I still get colds maybe once a year in Winter but that is about it nothing serious. Hasn't effected my levels at all I think.
It is a personal choice of course but I will always choose to have one.

I had my flu jab this year and got the flu very shortly afterwards. Unfortunately think I was struck down in the period where the vaccine was 'booting up' so to speak. Will still get it every year, flu is awful!

I’ve had mine ever since dx back in the mid 90s . It causes me no problems, some people feel off colour for a day or two.
It doesn’t always stop us getting flu. There are many different flu viruses and they vaccine doesn’t contain them all.
Is their anything in particular that bothers you about the flu jab ?

Absolutely have the flu jab and the pneumonia jab if you’re diabetic. They’re not live vaccines and despite people believing they kick start the virus, it shouldn’t be biologically possible.

Quite apart from protecting ourselves, we protect others by not getting the flu. It can be very serious and sepsis following infection is a greater risk for diabetics.

I've had one every year for years and got my usual letter in September but not been free of the sniffles since! I think I'll risk it tomorrow and just have the damned jab! 🙄

I'll just say I've had one every year for well over 20 years. Only year I couldn't be bothered (again over 29 years ago) I ruddy well had it - all over Xmas and new year, and I still wouldn't wish it on ANY one else.

Hi Sebstar ~ Go for it!
I have the flu vaccination every Sept/Oct and have done for years ~ I have the sniffles for about one week afterwards but that's all. I also had the Pneumonia jab 2years ago. It's a one off jab. If you're offered this as well then go for this too. But that's just my oppinion. Take care.

As Jenny has said, having the jab beats having the flu hands down. Flu can kill. Jabs can’t. It’s a no brainer.

I have been having the flu jab for 20 odd years as I was offered it when I was working at the hospital. I used to have a cold most years shortly after but occupational health said it was just a coincidence.

My advice is always to have something if it is offered as it is better than the complaint itself but not everyone agrees. I had mine this year but, as I have retired from the NHS, I paid for it.
