Thanks for the reminder Steff, I completely forgot it's round about that time again.

I have only ever had flu once in my life in 2002 and will never forget it. Every bone in my body ached, even my toenails 🙂

Cheers

Our surgery are doing 3 "drop-in" flu jab clinics the first 3 Saturdays in October but you can still get the nurse to give the injection at the next ordinary appointment with them at the Diabetic Clinic we are told so they get you either way ! I wouldn't miss having it as I'm mildly asthmatic too so it b*****s up my asthma and my diabetes if I get flu.😱

I had my letter turn up last week so I'm booked in for October 1st, touch wood I've never had flu!

If I don't want to have the jab there's a little form at the bottom of my letter confirming I've been advised and have decided against it which goes back to the surgery xx

Last years flu vaccination was meant to protect against swine flu.

I know that there are supply problems in some areas, I have seen notices to that effect in two surgeries.

The side-effects from the jab can be similar to a heavy cold, or sometimes you could have been coming down with things.

If you get flu it will knock you out for quite a while, and being diabetic you are at higher risk of secondary infections. You could talk it over with your Dr - they will be able to talk you through all the advantages and disadvantages.

I remember someone saying when they had flu, even their hair hurt. I had flu and they were right. So I have mine. Last year my arm hurt which it doesn't usually, but that was all.

Guess I'm the odd one out on this one...

Don't like medication full stop and prefer my body fighting off illnesses like the flu.

I do a lot of exercise, look after my diet and keep myself warm in the winter.
Having said that though, I do get the occasional flu/cold every couple of years. It is a hard battle at times, but prefer my body fighting it the natural way.

If only I could do that with diabetes 🙂

Like mentioned above, it is a personal choice. If it works for you then don't stop taking it!

I reckon you've had colds......if you have had flu you would not want it again...I only started having an annual flu jab after having had flu. Thought I had had flu before....not the case! I was a very fit 35 year old and it wiped me out for a month....never again, flu jab every year for me now. 🙂

Well had my jab this am, very efficient nurse, was in 10 minutes early so gave us more time to have a chit chat x arm is a little sore but no more then that

No mention of mine yet, don't normally get a letter till late October or November.

Got mine booked for the 12th October 🙂

mine booked for 22 Oct

my gp is a crafty git he walks into his room with my insulin and a needle in his hand "whats that needle for" "its your flu jab as we had such trouble last year" (last time when i went to get it done i was having hallucinations and refused to let the nurse inject me)
hes such a crafty git :D:D
