Apparently there have been some reports of shortages of flu jabs.

Thought you might find this response from Diabetes UK helpful:

Dan Howarth, Head of Care at Diabetes UK, said:“Flu can be incredibly serious, and people with diabetes are particularly vulnerable to serious complications if they get it. With the coronavirus pandemic still posing a very real threat, it’s incredibly important that people with diabetes stay well and stay out of hospital. That’s why this year, more than ever, it is so important that people with diabetes take up the offer of a free flu jab.

“We know all flu jab providers will be facing increased demand this year. But we want to reassure people that there are a number of options available to them to get their jab, that include their GP surgery or their local pharmacy. The jab can take up to two weeks to be effective, so we’re urging everyone with diabetes to get booked, and get vaccinated, as soon as possible.

“If anyone needs advice on how or where to get a flu jab, our helpline is available on 0345 123 2399, Monday – Friday from 9am – 6pm, or you can find more information on diabetes and flu at diabetes.org.uk.”

Dr. Hilary Jones on one of his slots yesterday that the delivery of the vaccine to Doctors can vary to when they put their orders in so it is rolling out.
I also saw a Doctor saying a couple of months ago that they order at the beginning of the year the number of vaccines they expect to need.
I always thought they would be hiccups around expanding the vaccine to more groups.
I had mine last Thursday and it was the first clinic for my surgery.

I’m booked in for the 3rd October but I’ve been to the surgery for bloods twice in the last week and both times I asked if it would be better to give me the jab whilst I was already there and the nurse said she couldn’t as they had none.

Some pharmacies are offering flu jabs free to NHS qualifying patients if anyone is struggling to get one at the gps. I was offered one in Kamsons a couple of days ago, but I have already had mine.

I’ve found it easier to go to my local pharmacy in recent years. Incan just drop-in there with no need to book or attend a special clinic

This has hit the news as Boots had announced they were having problems!

My Pharmacy has recently changed and I have not got to know the new Pharmacist! My Pharmacy is not that spacious even though they have removed some sheling units.

Having mine tomorrow at the surgery 10:08 cattle market day.🙄

Had mine 2 weeks ago. I'm so lucky to have the best GP surgery I've ever been enrolled with. Always up to date, efficient, latest technology and really nice people.

Just seen reference on a Singapore news paper site that WHO are saying many Northern Hemispere Countries are struggling to get more Flu Vaccine for the Flu season.

Till my mid 20's I had never a bad GP and developed Asthma, and was given a bit of a run around, once I got sorted with a Chest Physcian, I changed surgeries. I am still with this surgery nearly 40 years later, although it is not quite as good as it was , it is still better than most around here.
