Hey 🙂

Just wondering if its ok to wear flip flops with having diabetes?
also iv just noticed iv got yellow toe nails. not very nice but is that normal?

Can't see why flip flops would be an issue they cover the soul of your feet, might hurt if you drop a brick on your foot mind you 🙂
Yellow toenails could mean fungal infection or can be sign of bad diet,

Well the advice I was given, some time ago, was that sandals and flip flops were a big No No. The reason being that even the slightest knock can take a long time to heal up. However, we can't live our lives being different to others, so we just have to be careful when wearing them.

Hi Alice.

I wear them but I do tend to check my feet pre putting them on, mid day (if I can) & when I take them off especially between my toes when wearing the thong flip flops/sandals

So you're the reason there are no large size flip flops left :D

My podiatrist told me to wear sandals whenever the weather permits. Something to do with the shape of my toes!

Alice

The guidelines may not say this, but my feeling re: footwear (or bare feet for that matter) has always been that while I still have full sensitivity in my feet many of the 'never ever wear' rules don't seem to apply to me.

As long as you are careful, and make sure you keep a good eye on your feet I would imagine you should be OK with flip flops -unless your clinic has told you otherwise

I can't go without my flip flops....no way.....no how. If I have to spend a winter cooped up in shoes well in the summer the flip flops go on! :D

I'd say go for it, but get some decent ones that will cushion your feet, not the very thin ones. I live in FitFlops during the summer, as they are really thick soles and soooo comfy to walk on.

Exactly, good flip flops not your ?2 a pair ones. I live in mine too, so comfy. I got away with sandals all the way to October last year :D

I wear flip flops as I love them however I did slip last year and because they offer very little protection I cut my foot quite badly and it took ages to heal. There are still 2 red marks of the top of my foot. I also find that I have to be very careful with the backs of my feet as they dry up and crack terribly when I wear FF if I'm not careful - so daily creaming is in order.

Wearing flip flops or sandals will make your feet very dry. Particularly your heels. Mine get very rough that's the problem of wearing flip flops or sandals. I never wear long sleeves so my elbows always used to get rough too. So my daily make up routine now involves any excess moisturiser going to my elbows too. :D

I was told I should wear shoes that enclose my feet so that bits of grit and glass don't get in. Some sandals are OK but not flip flops as there was not enough protection for my feet.

Around the house and when it is warm at work I wear crocs which are very comfortable and allows the air to get at my feet

Thanks for the replies.. so glad I can still wear them I live in them in the summer.. lets hope it gets hotter and hotter for us now :D

I'm definitely with you on that one! Surely we deserve a scorcher? :D
