Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi All,

I've been Type 1 since I was 9 (I'm now 71) and can honestly say in all those 62 years, even though I've been hospitalised for both Hypo and Hyper, particularly whilst at school age, I've never had a fit.

Does it annoy any of you when Diabetics are portrayed having fits in films or TV dramas? e.g. Film 'Broken' BBC iPlayer this week.

I've never heard of a Diabetic having fits, am I missing something?.

Thanks Grovesy, you made me look up about Diabetic fits.

I still think the drama industry goes over the top when they portray diabetics as having fits almost every time diabetes is part of the story-line.

Yes, as @grovesy says it is possible to have fits if a particularly bad hypo. Probably not as common as tv dramas like to suggest though! I suppose it's less dramatic if people just look a bit woozy or trembly, then have a jelly baby and solve it 😉 :D

Yes! curing a hypo by sniffing a sweet cup of tea is almost as bad as showing a fit instead of a feak and weeble diabetic.
