Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I have Type 1 diabetes since 1973since I was 6, bl***y h**l 49 years, I didn't realise it was that long. I've had the usual things like
Retinopathy, Neuropathy.
In 2016 I ended up in a coma after developing Sepsis which affected my blood sugar which I've been told went over 50
causing a bit of brain damage, leading too weakness down my left side and memory loss but at least I'm still here to make new memories.
The reason I'm posting this, I hope people will read this and realise diabetes has to be treated properly and not to get complacent, as it can be very dangerous.

Good to have your input @Marshal 1 and to read of your positive attitude.

If you would like to you could let us know how you manage your T1.
pens or pump?
which insulin?
sensor (such as Libre?)

Hi and welcome from me too.

Sorry to hear you had a major health trauma which has left you with some long term damage but I agree with Sue, that you seem to have a great, positive attitude.
Not sure if you are interested in the social aspect of the forum but we have a very long running thread titled "Group 7-day waking average" which is like a virtual coffee morning for those of us who test out BG levels on a morning. The "average" part of the title has pretty much been abandoned and it is now just a daily check in with our waking reading and a bit of chat/banter/good moan about fickle glucose levels misbehaving etc. It's a great community spirit so please feel free to join us if you fancy it. I am sure you will soon get the measure of us and feel that you can join in some of the exchanges of wit and culture or just pick up some bad habits like doing "Wordle" every morning. I will post a link below if you fancy saying "hello" there too...
