What else am I likely to be called for and more importantly what are the normal time scale for the things I will be called to attend?

I don't know if my experience is typical, but I was diagnosed in July 2000 and my first eye screening was in December that year -- about six months later.

Now you have all got me asking the question of when I get called for this or even why I havn't been called for this?

If you see your Dr or practice nurse - check that they have referred you.

you ca have my appointment tomorrow if you want...saves me getting in a state about it all:(

To Scanz, in response to your test and your good results.

That's fantastic news!

Well done.

Scanz glad it all went fine x good luck to everyone with there eye screenings

i had my first retinal screening today too.

it went well. i had the standard eye test at the beginning and might have made the odd mistake with some of the letters of the last, smallest row at the bottom, but thats cool. i wear glasses anyway, and did well enough.

they didnt give me drops. i wasnt too bothered about that to be honest, but still, it was nice to not need them and come out into the sunshine afterwards and be clear-visioned.

i was told that there was no sign of any retinopathy which is great news of course.

I asked her to show me the scans, which she did, and then for comparitive purposes, she showed me some scans of a damaged retina.

since she was so obliging, i asked her to email me the pics of my scan, which she duly did too. i think it will be worthwhile having among my own medical records, copies of scans to go along with all the other blood test results, letters and what not.

tempted to go straight down the pub and imbibe a celebratory ale. think i'll just have a nice cup of high mountain wulong tea instead though.

Oh dear my dad had his at the hospital a few weeks ago but wasn't given any result when he was there :( does this mean he might have something they might be looking at closer as we were told results would be sent to our Dr in about 1mth I am dreading them even more now :(

Really pleased everyone who has just had their tests have got such good results, well done. Wish dad had heard this news too

Diagnosed January had to go to hospital for screening in May as the bus thing would have been too long to wait for. Next time it should be at the GP when the team arrive there.

Great stuff timbla! I've been to the eye hospital for my last two scans as I've had some changes near the macula. Nothing needs doing yet, but the consultant showed me the pictures on the screen and pointed out where the problem was. Erm...I'd had drops to dilate my pupils and couldn't make out a thing!🙄

thanks..

and sorry to those whose news in this respect has not been so good.

its so scary.

I wasn't given a result straight away either Pippin and received the all clear about 3-4 weeks after my screening. I was dreading the results too but am glad I didn't put it off. Hope your Dad is as lucky 🙂

Thank you teapot8910 I really appreciate your post as I have been quizzing dad incase he had been told but didn't tell me! At least I know some results can take longer. I'm hoping nothing untoward as I don't know what else we can do to stop anything happening. It's the dentist I am worrying about today, and it's me who will get the injections not dad 😉 thank you x

I'm also in Lincs. Pippin. I was referred on 27th April for my eye test but have heard nothing yet. How long did it take for you to be called and where did you have it done.🙂

Hi thelis
The screening was for my dad he was diagnosed January and got his appointment May. We are in Northern Ireland normally a bus/team visits the surgery but it must be a lot later which is why they sent him to the hospital. If all is ok I think his next one will be at the surgery. Hope your results are good expect we may have longer to wait although the nurse said they hadn't any back logs she even mentioned we may have to ask the Dr.

Thank you for your reply hope mine makes sense as I am just home after some lengthy dental treatment think my blood went low as I had to stay until I recovered! Dad had to look after me this time 😉
