I've got my first appointment with the nurse tomorrow. My diagnosis was given to me over the phone last wee, so tomorrow kind of makes it official. Can anyone tell me what I should perhaps expect to happen when I'm there? Not feeling at my best either today. I went to bed last night with a dry cough and a scratchy throat. Woke up this morning with the cough twice as bad as last night and my throat feeling like I had been gargling glass splinters all night!! I went to work and spent the day driving everyone nuts with my cough. The only thing that soothed my cough was drinking nice cold water......I drunk about 2 litres. Don't know what was worse the cough or the amount of time spent dashing to the loo!!!!:D

Experiences vary so much that it's hard to say what will happen. Hopefully, you will be able to discuss a plan for if you need medication, or if you can see whether you can bring your levels under control with modifications to your diet and activity levels. I think that people are supposed to be able to try D&E (Diet and Exercise) for at least 3 months so that, at the very least, they can learn the discipline required to manage things - many people are able to continue without medication for quite some time.

I'd suggest having a read of what you should expect from the NHS in terms of support, so you know what should happen, and maybe ask questions if you think some things have not been covered in enough detail 🙂

Hope you are feeling better soon. Let us know how things go, and if you come away feeling confused about anything, remember we are always here to help clarify things 🙂

Thank you so much for that. I didn't want to go iin not having some sort of idea of what to expect. I will let you know how I get on tomorrow 🙂

Good luck tomorrow.

I've nothing very constructive to say, only that Hopefully you can expect help to start feeling better: you sound as if you're having an awful time.

Let us know how it goes

Thanks Lizzie, I am tired all the time right now. Could sleep on the edge of a knife some days. I had hoped I had managed to avoid all the lurgies going around at work. Sadly no. I have had a sore throat since last night. My throat is so sore now my voice is so deep I sound rather manly....eek!! Thank you for your kind comments. I will let you know how it goes x
