Fighting as hard as I can

The test solution actually has quite a broad range for the test strips. If you look at your pot of test strips it will have a range or perhaps 2 or 3 ranges for test solutions.

My Caresens test strips have a low range which is 2.9 - 3.7, so the low control solution should read within that range and the high range is 11.1-15.1 so the high control solution should fall within that very broad range, which just reinforces the fact that they are not that accurate, when the known solution has to read between those values.

They used to recommend in the instruction manual that you tested a strip from each new pot that you opened and I used to do that, but haven't done it for years now.
My machines (vivachek ino/inox) explicitly mention that no control solutions are needed. And I can't find any anyway. But all these replies have put my mind at rest about differing readings

The thing to watch is the cost of the test strips. I’m Type 1 and have an AccuChek meter but I get my test strips prescribed so free.

The two meters generally recommended for Type 2s here are the Caresens Gluco Navii and the Spirit Tee 2. That’s because they’re a good balance of accurate and cheaper strips.
I've just ordered gluco navii, and 100 strips, if it's recommended here I will have it. Thank you. It will be interesting (to me) to see the differences if any, to my vivachek ino and vivachek inox machines. At least I will have spares. Thanks again.

I have only ever had one monitor, only test once, same finger unless I am very suspicious of the result which I don't actually remember ever being.

I've had two free ones (Contour Next and Contour Plus), but I did buy a small Trivium one when first diagnosed, then upgraded to a Trivium model with Bluetooth. I also bought a Gluco Navii, but didn't use it much.

I tend to use the Contour models, as I found they give fairly consistent results across different fingers, and I like the App and Bluetooth connectivity.

If you’re going to be testing on all 3 then yes that is obsessive.
