Take fibre off or not from carbs? Advice please thanks in advance
Alison

I think in the UK fibre has already been taken off the carbs, so no. That is my understanding.

Ah OK.
I just remember my dietician saying to take fibre off a couple of years ago but could be wrong.

No, use the total carbs figure as it is. You don’t have to take off fibre. It’s already been separated out in the nutritional info.

The US lists the carbs in a slightly different way so do watch out for that if you’re looking at recipes online.

American labels don't show the fibre separately. UK labels do - so eg 17.8g carb 2.8g fibre - bolus for 17.8g cab. In America would show 20.6g carb inc 2.8 fibre, so we'd have to minus the 2.8g and bolus for the 17.8 !

Only if using a recipe from the USA - they include fibER in total carbs, so advice over there (and possibly some other countries) is to deduct fibER from carbs. In the UK fibRE is listed separately, so do not deduct. Take care usingUS websites!

Not good - a dietician without a clue about something so basic to their profession.
