I have recently changed from Novorapid to Fiasp. All was going well until yesterday when it was as though I had taken zero insulin for breakfast & same for lunch. BM's of 19 to 20 post meals. I gave a correction & then came crashing down some hours later. Although no problem with teatime dose & BMs normal.

Today I have changed the pen & cartridge over in case the pen wasn't functioning properly. Today I have had exactly the same pattern. BM of 19 after breakfast and correction today made no impact
BM after lunch is 19 and climbing.

Both pens were my 'current' pens and subsequently not stored in the fridge. (always kept current pen in handbag/drawer with novorapid) My only thought is that both cartridges must be in the region of 4-5 weeks old. Have they gone off? (novorapid never did)
I carb count and have been pretty accurate until yesterday!
Any ideas? For now I have changed onto a fresh chilled cartridge and it is in the fridge!
Thank you!

Google “Fiasp like water”. I don’t know if this is the cause of your particular problem, but a number of people have had issues with Fiasp and said it’s like injecting water.

On the other hand, if your insulin wasn’t chilled and is more than 28 days old it could be simply that - the insulin has degraded.

You are only meant to use the cartridge for 30 days out of the fridge but it does state better off in the fridge.
What are you eating for breakfast and lunch?
You have to remember that Fiasps action is different to novorapid so this could also be the problem.
Have you done any basal testing?

Sorry you’ve been having a rough time @ezzycozzy

In use and out of the fridge for 4-5 weeks could well have begun to get tired?

Might be worth marking the date when your ‘in use’ comes out of the fridge if you are on low doses?

Hope your new pen gets you back on the straight and narrow, and to more usual and reliable insulin action 🙂
