Not been feeling my self for months now , don't know what to do feeling very low at moment

Hi Oliver. Sorry to hear you're feeling down. I think we all feel a bit grim from time to time, especially at this time of year, but if you feel like the black cloud just isn't lifting & especially if it's starting to affect your life, please go & see your gp & tell them how you feel. They'll probably run through something called the edinburgh scale with you, which is a way of assessing how things are. They might be able to offer talking therapy if that would suit, or tablets, but either way the important thing is to do something about it - you don't have to struggle along feeling grim & there is absolutely no shame in asking for help.

Meanwhile if it helps keep posting on here, & know that you're not alone.

Take care,

Twitchy x

Sorry to hear you are feeling low Oliver. Good advice from Twitchy, don't ignore it and go to speak to your GP if things don't improve. They will not think you are 'being silly', and can assess whether you need some support.

Hope you feel more yourself soon.

Can't add to the good advice already given, but do hope you feel better soon

Thanks for advice . Im 1 them people who just let it build up and keeps it to them selfs , maybe need open up , way I feel at the moment I can't even bring my self to work . Been out work 2 months , due to just wanting to be on my own . Also just worried about the future . With me controlling my diabetes . As I been diabetic nearly 8 years . Tbh I admit haven't looked after my self really :( .

Hi Oliver, just to add something that works for me when feeling glum - make sure you are eating properly. If I feel low I try to get a good protein boost with some scrambled eggs or a thick steak, have some dark green veg such as spinach and avoid fast food, sweets, crisps etc. for a few days at least.

Hope you feel better soon. 🙂

Thanks for advice give it try from tomorrow just feeling stressed and depressed alot atm , worrying about stuff

Seriously Oliver

Please do go and see your GP. I fought against that for years actually. No I'm not that bad, don't need the doctors .......... How daft was I? - I did need help and once I asked for it, I got it. And then recovered. It was such a relief to finally be able to wake up in a morning and feel like ME again.

They won't just hurry you along, write a prescription and see you off - honestly they won't. They won't care that they have 56 people in the waiting room. They will LISTEN to you and encourage you - gently - to express what you need to tell. However long it takes, really.

I find it hard to open up tho , and feel ashamed to make appointment then the reception ask what the appointment for , and worried wont be taken seriously as I'm only 20 .

The receptionist in the surgery should not be asking you what your appointment is for. If she asks you what the appointment is for Oliver, tell her it's a personal matter that you wish to discuss with the doctor. You're not being rude Oliver you are entitled to privacy and the receptionist has no right to ask. I was a medical receptionist and if a patient was asking for an appointment I would ask if they thought it was an emergency or could it wait till the following day. A few would say yes it could wait till next day, but if someone said it was an emergency I had no hesitation in giving them an appointment.

Right okay just in past the ask what's it for , I wanna make appointment but when I get there Im worried just gunna palm me off and not take serious , I find it hard to open up to any one , I put a smile on everyone thinks I'm fine ,

Oliver, why don't you phone in for an appointment then. And even if the receptionist does ask what it's for you still tell them it's a private matter which I need to discuss with my doctor. They should not palm you off. You have as much right to see your doctor as anyone else in your practice, regardless of your age.

Yes, make that appointment, you owe it to yourself to feel better. 🙂

Hi Oliver, have you thought about putting it in writing like you have here? That way, if you get to the doc's and feel you're going to clam up and hide your feelings, you can either refer to the piece of paper - or if you really can't face saying it aloud, give the notes to the doc.

I was having anxiety attacks and getting so down.. litrually thought there was no way to get back up.. I had councelling..I bottle everything up..dont talk about it.. I sawa c ounceller 3 times.. she told me to have a book and write all my felings down and what i was upset/angry about in a book to let it out.. this worked wonders!! xxx

Yeah Il give it ago at writing down , I've got go get me prescription tomorrow so will make apointment when I'm there , sound like good idea writing it Down xx

It worked for me.. my counceller told me that people deal with emotions in different ways people that are physical get rid of their anger and sadness from exercise like going for a run.. some people get rid of it from talking.. and people who bottle it up and then it build up leading you to feel like this need to write it down.. she told me to write it as a letter and put it in an envelope so nobody sees.. but then i thought hell im gunna be buying loads of envelopes 😛 so i have a book in my beside drawer and if i get angry or upset.. even if its a silly little thing like someone said this to me today and it really annoyed me... i just feel better afterwards for getting it out of my systemm.. i mean sometimes i write a 5 page rant.. but at least its out and you feel better. always feel free to private message me.. I honestly know how it feels.. I had such bad anxiety like i thought there was no way it would get better and everyone says im a diff person now.. so positive and all that 🙂 sorry for the rant haha

Yep gunna try start and write it down and try see if it helps but think goin to make appointment tomz , as not been sleeping due the stress and worrys and allsorts

Great news Oliver, that's a big step for you I'm sure. Get the appointment made and before you go to the appointment write it all down and either tell the doctor or let him read what you've written. After you've done that I'm sure you'll feel like you've just lifted a load off your shoulders. Probably this time in a few months you'll be telling us all here how much better you're doing. :D
