Its 2 am, feeling restless can't sleep nothing new about the lack of sleep. Head hurts got the shakes, very thirsty and hungry, pull my self together and test. No surprise I am hypo, what is a surprise is the hypo is only 3.3.

I have not had an early morning for months, and this one feels very rough fir such a mild one. The craving for food got the better of me, 4 fruit pastels and 6 fruit biscuit type snacks. Think this will be an over correction, still feel hungry and shakey. Re tested after 20 mins ish and already up to 6.7 :( & 🙂 in that got my levels back up, probably to quickly and wondering how high they will peak at.

Sorry to hear this pav :( Night hypos often feel much worse than daytime ones in my experience, and it's hard not to overtreat when you feel like that. I hope that you have been able to get some sleep, and that the numbers don't turn out as bad as you fear.

Sorry to hear this Pav - it could be that you'd gone even lower and had been hypo for a while before you woke up. Hope you feel ok today.

Eventually woke this mornin to a 5.7, at least my levels dropped to normal range on waking. Still feel like rubbish, head ache still here and still a bit shakey, :( normally don't feel this bad after a hypo

I think there must have been a serious amount of insulin ou didn't really need sloshing around, to wake on that after that treatment pav - looks like you really needed it! 🙂 Hope you feel better as the day progresses 🙂

Dear Pav im not copying you but I woke up at 6 with BM of 3.3 and starving to and over corrected on biscuits, the hunger i felt didnt warrant jelly babies or lucozade! Now i feel guilty. Now im unsure that my evening mel was protein chicken breast and peas as i was saving myself to 30g of Special K cereal for supper. So confusing sometimes and the fear of high reading later in day!!hope you are feeling much better and got some zzzzzzs. Laura 🙂

Oh dear it must have been the night for hypos, I tested my daughter at 2am and she was 2.9! My fault though, she had dance class in the evening and I forgot to put a TBR on overnight to reduce her basal, which we seem to need these days after evening exercise.

Not easy to wake her up when hypo but I find if I can shove a drinking straw in her mouth she will suck it, so went down to make up some sugary blackcurrant squash, it's normally left out but then I found that husband had tidied up and moved it!! So then in a panic was going through all the cupboards but couldn't find it, in the end had to wake hubby up to ask him what he'd done with it. He'd put it in the wine rack! 😱

Put it back; hopefully it will ferment and you can have blackcurrant wine LOL

Is there that much instant glucose in squash? - presumably you mean like full sugar Ribena or whatever?

Just realised, we have this sometimes. Kir ! (or Kir Royale, even better hic)

We have Tesco's High Juice blackcurrant, it's 48 grams sugar per 100ml of concentrate. Which is roughly equal to full sugar Ribena I think. No idea how much of that is glucose but it seems to work pretty quickly! You're supposed to dilute it 1:4 but I don't, I usually do it about half and half.

We have a problem in that daughter HATES anything fizzy, so Lucozade, Coke etc are out as hypo treatments, and we were advised not to use fruit juice as apparently it doesn't digest quickly enough. So that left us with not much choice! If she's awake we use GlucoTabs, have tubs of them all over the house, but during the night something liquid is much easier!

We used to use Tesco's blackcurrant cordial which had even more sugar per 100 grams, I think it was over 50%, but they don't seem to do that one any more :(

I hope they don't stop selling all high-sugar drinks on health reasons, normally I would always buy low-sugar versions even if we didn't have any diabetics in the family, but as hypo treatments they are really good!

She's fine now thanks Laura. She woke up this morning saying she'd had a funny dream that someone was forcing her to drink something... Erm that was me! :D

Just had a look at the small cartons of orange juice, I normally have by the bed side and that has nearly 21g os sugar in it. Though sods law this morning no drink, no sweats, just fruit type biscuits, so long since I had night hypo I forgot to restock the bed side table.

Hope every one is feeling ok after the night of hypos we all have had.

I feel rough today just an exhausted tiredness. I am going to make myself go for a walk to get myself going and motivated. Do any of you ladies on here feel low during your period? Just ate a poached egg and half a piece of bread i feel I should have carbs albeit a low amount to give me some needed energy, im flagging today. Any tips on any foods non carbs that will give me energy. :(
