And PS Really happy you survived the redundancies - and well done in getting such a brilliant score.
Hi I was diagnosed July 2024 .it was 16 before bed it's showing that I was high all night I've been high all.week xxHow long have you had Type 1? What basal are you taking? What was your blood sugar before bed last night? What’s your Libre graph showing - ie were you high all night or did you suddenly go up at X o’clock?
Aww thank you so much xxAnd PS Really happy you survived the redundancies - and well done in getting such a brilliant score.
Oh no @corriefan ! Is 16 more than you’d usually have at night time?
Sorry to hear your levels have been higher than usual. Higher levels certainly make me feel sluggish (and grumpy!)
Do you correct the high levels with extra short-acting ins
Hi yes 16 a lot higher I have tried injection in my arm xx
It has always been suggested to me that abdomen was the quickest-absorbing site.
Are you adding extra insulin to correct the higher BG level? How are you calculating
Hi yes I always change my insulin injections and test it before Injecting myself I have been doing 7 before evening meals higher before bed xI’m still not clear whether you’re doing correction doses @corriefan - that is, extra fast-acting insulin in addition to your meal time doses. Are you doing this - ie using a Correction Factor to calculate a correction dose in addition to your normal insulin?
So if you were 16 before bed, then your blood sugar didn’t go up too much. The issue seems to be that you’re running too high. Have you changed your fast/meal insulin cartridge in case that’s degraded? If not, do that.

Hi I'm not counting carbs I'm going k. A course to learn about that I. 3 weeks just if I'm really high I have automatically been doing more insulin xAre you counting the carbs in your meals? What formula are you using to calculate the extra insulin?

Thank you so much for your support.yes it's so annoying they've not taught me about carbs when I've had it a year nearly .I certainly fear my honeymoon period has ended because I used to wake up to normal glucose and now I'm waking up minimum of 12 but it's definitely been higher last few days definitely so that since Thursday I've had zero energy and really struggled staying asleep I tried red bull on Saturday and Friday still hasn't helped I'm quite concerned that I'm so high and feeling so lethargic I might have to contact my diabetes hospital team this week as trying so hard to be well and good Glucose but nothing helpunyive even tried tonight changing my induction site from tummy to arm thank you again for your support xxxOk, so you’re not doing ‘proper’ corrections and won’t have been given a correction factor to apply. As an aside, I really hate the way they leave people floundering around and waiting months for a course, when carb counting can be taught very quickly. It’s not hard and it p’s me right off.
Rant over! So, what you could do is start counting your carbs now even if only roughly. Try eating the same breakfast each day and the same lunch. If you have cereal, weigh it and measure your milk. For toast, have the same bread. Then have that every day for breakfast. This will give you an idea of how your insulin dose is working for that meal. Do the same for lunch, eg a sandwich made from two slices of the same bread, then X then Y - the same each day. You’ll then start to see what dose works for each meal. This will help your control a lot.
If your blood sugar has suddenly gone awry in the last week or two, you’re either ill, your insulin has degraded, you’ve changed your diet or daily routine (eg less exercise) or maybe even your honeymoon period is ending and you need more insulin.
If you can’t sort it yourself, definitely give your team a call @corriefan x
Thank you so much for your help xxxCarb counting is simple. You count the carbs in what you’re about to eat, then apply an insulin to carb ratio that your team will give you or that you can work out yourself. Here’s a brief example: John’s insulin to carb ratio is 1 unit to 10g carbs. He counts the carbs in his lunch and they add up to 50g carbs. He then knows that he needs 5 units of fast-acting insulin as he knows that for him 1 unit of insulin covers 10g of carbs, and he has 5x10g carbs, ie 50g. I hope that makes sense! An insulin to carb ratio can be 1 unit to 20g carbs, 1 to 12g - anything really. It varies per person and often varies per meal, eg with our hypothetical John, above, he might need a ratio of 1 unit to 8g carbs for breakfast as he’s more resistant to insulin then.
This site has some information about carb-counting. It would be a good start to look at even if you don’t change anything:

I think if you say a bit about what insulins you are taking and your dosing strategy then people may be able to make better sense of what might be happening and make some suggestions. This morning it was 14 X
This morning it was 14 X
It was 16.4 but before that was 20.5 about eight o'clock did have alcohol yesterday I haven't eaten anything yet today xAnd what was it before bed?
