Feeling guilty?

Life is def., frustrating at times with diabetes and more than likely without as well 🙂

People have to remember we are all different and either accept or not that they have diabetes and acceptance comes in many ways and forms.

Even though I have clocked up almost 56 years with type1 I do sometimes wish to just sit down and stuff my face when ever I want or do something spontaneous without testing my blood sugars first.

The biggest hurdle in life is the well meaning people who know diddly squat about diabetes but insist on airing their views on your management 🙂 So be warned lol.

Take things at your own pace and remember life is for living. Rome wasn't built in a day so small baby steps and you will be fine.

I

Yeah. I think it doesn't help that the first nurse that diagnosed me as type 2 told me that my diet was terrible and that I was gonna kill myself if I didn't change.
If those were the words used I’m sorry I’d be going to them with a stern complaint letter.

Oh @Pumper_Sue - the number of times I've been pre-occupied with something or another and halfway through a meal gone Oh bugger - forgot I was diabetic then! - and spent half a day after, sorting myself out.

@Beth123 - you won't believe that's possible, neither would I until recently. Fact is, there's not enough happening generally, to keep me properly occupied. I think, anyway.

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time @Beth123

Whichever type of diabetes you are diagnosed with, no HCP should make you feel guilt, shame, blame or stigma around it. No one wants a diagnosis with a long term condition and no one deserves to be made to feel bad about one. How is that going to help? How is it going to motivate towards better self care?

The good news is you now have some information and a positive way forward. If as seems likely you are a variant of T1 this will involve learning about dose adjustment, and how your body reacts to any combination of the dozens of factors that can affect Bg levels. If a variant of T2 you’ll soon be learning just how your individual body responds to different foods, and how to make choices that suit your BG as well as your tastebuds.

You’ll soon be the world expert in your own diabetes 🙂
