Aww Alan - that is such a sad story :( I feel we should club together and take you for a trip to the seaside to make up for it, what a shame - poor you and your poor family after forking out the money.

Yes I'm glad it didn't happen last week - mainly as I can't drink on the anti b's and a week in a cottage with mum and dad does require some alchohol!! I reckon it's the Kidderminster air that's no good for me - must move to Minehead!

I asked doc about my swollen feet and ankles - he thinks it was the long journey - blimey I'd better not go abroad 🙄 what am I like?! He did say to go back if it continues though.

Hi Karen I'm glad the doctor has given you something to help I hope that it works quickly so that you feel better very soon.

Alan that is a very sad story and makes me feel very sorry for both you and your mum

Either that or you're pregnant :D

Make sure you finish the entire course of antibiotics, even if you're feeling better. You need to make sure you nuke all of those little sods so they don't go developing a resistance and passing it on to other bacteria.

Have you also been explicitly told you can't drink on these antibiotics? I think there are only two kinds of antibiotics where you can't drink and these are rarely prescribed anyway - the whole booze and 'biotics thing is a bit of a myth.

It is sensible to avoid drinking alcohol when taking medication. However, it is unlikely that drinking alcohol in moderation will cause problems if you are taking most common antibiotics.

Pregnant 😱 I have enough problems!! Lol!!

No to be honest I haven't been told not to drink whilst on the tabs - I never do though, especially when sugar levels need to be closely watched - it just confuses the issue. It's ok now I'm home anyway but although we had a lovely holiday with mum and dad there are times when you need a glass of wine and a good sense of humour!! Thanks for the info though - if things get bad, I can always get a cheap bottle of cider and join the druggies down by the canal! it's only a short walk away and a short stagger back :D

glad you managed to get an appointment with the doc and he/she gave you anti-biotics. you will soon be on the mend. in the meantime rest and let the meds do their work 🙂

Update

Well here is the update! I finally started to feel a little better yesterday (although sugar has been low - I can recommend these anti-bio's! Been getting hypos 🙄) my throat is a mess 😱 with a couple of ulcer things with white heads :( so as I was at the diabetic clinic anyway today (hba1c down from 8 to 7.5 :D) I asked to see the triage doc (I finished the antibiotics yesterday) so I now have another course of them to try and finish off this bug - at least I feel better in myself - here goes - jelly babies at the ready!

Hi Karen glad to hear that you are beginning to feel better but sorry to hear that you are having problems with your throat. That is a brilliant HBA1C. Well done x
