Hello... I am what my doctor calls pre-diabetic. I am not on any medication and do my best to control things by diet. I watched that tv programme recently about giving up drugs and decided to give up the Statins I was on for 3 months. My Doctor agreed and I had every blood test, and in 3 months time will have the same tests done again. Since giving up Statins my blood sugar keeps dropping, which is a good thing, even though it does make me feel sick. My body is used to it being around the 7-10 but since giving up the Statins it is starting to get under 7 and hovering around 6. Unfortunately as I have arthritis is my ankles and knees I can't do loads of walking and was all set to start swimming... but it turns out that I have a perforated ear drum and I am not happy about going swimming until I see the specialist. Because I am pre-diabetic and not on medication my doctor will not prescribe blood test strips or lancets as they say they are not needed so have to buy them on ebay as the chemist charges £30... I am hoping to talk my doctor into changing her mind. I was wondering if feeling sick all the time is part and parcel of my levels dropping... I know alot of people on here are on medication and injections, and that my problem may not be as bad as most of you but I want to get rid of this before it gets worse... hence joining up and looking for support.... tia.
