There are some great people here but reading through the many posts here has me feeling very scared. Do others feel the same and how do you deal with it (bit of a silly question I know)?

Yup it's not a nice condition and hell yeah if you don't look after yourself it will sure catch up with you one way or another. There's plenty of success stories on here as well as some horror and that's the way it's a always going to be on a public forum
Dont see it as a bad thing I see it as an eye opener . I needed to kick old habits and start to live a healthier lifestyle and have tried my hardest for the last 9 years not always successful or positive but I always have hope

Hi Nomad,

In hindsight I'm more fearful of what my life would have been like without D. My DX was a big wake-up call & made me sit up and make positive changes in my life..... I'm in a much better position now Physically, Mentally & Emotionally.
My fear of Diabetic Complications was what drove me to attempt & achieve great control, so I even turned that fear into a positive.

Well this is the trick Martin - and I agree entirely.

Turn the negatives into positives - otherwise you get so scared you can't look after yourself. And looking after yourself is only common sense really, when you actually sit down and consider it all properly!

I was certainly very scared and ignorant when I first came on this forum. Every now and then I get a bit worried again but I am doing the best that I can and trying each day to control it better and making some progress most of the time. I think we have to accept what we have and make the most of each day. People on here are so kind and helpful and really understand what it is like so a good place for encouragement, or a moan, or advice. I am so glad that I found this forum 🙂
