Hi I've just bought some little 12ml individual pots of UHT single cream for my coffee to wean myself off a very high intake of double cream in coffee. I googled the fat content and each pot has 2.2gms of fat of which 1.3 is saturated. Apparently there is no polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat so does anyone know what the other .9gm is? Thanks

Look at values per 100g or 100ml, as in a 2.2ml pot, the 0.9g might be split into amounts too small to be listed. Could be that <0.5g of anything doesn't have to be listed. Not sure, but worth checking.

Thanks for your ideas. I've realised the pots actually don't have much less fat than double cream anyway Wish I liked coffee black!

...Wish I liked coffee black!
You do get used to it and getting the right blend can be important. I'll happily drink Arabica black, but you won't find me touch Robusta.

Although I do drink the occasional Latte as well 😉

I don't do that myself.
Not quite at coffee black, but skimmed milk, UHT or regular is OK.
Don't do Soya, it coagulates in good filter coffee. Yuk!
My will-power is fueled by this being the happiest time of my life and I need to stay healthy to enjoy travels with my partner.

I can do black coffee, but only with sugar, so I stick with white! How many coffees do you have a day? Only asking because my favourite way of reducing something is the every other one method. So one with cream, one with milk, etc. cuts consumption in half and you still get the treat of the cream. I find once I've done that for a while my taste adjusts fairly naturally. That said I only have three coffees a day now, so the every other one method wouldn't work 🙄

Can you get "low fat creamer" or something similar instead? I used to looove black coffee, but like my coffee with hot milk these days. Funny how our tastes change!🙂

Coffee creamer is usually full of sugar.

I wouldn't worry about the fat, 2.2g per cup is not exactly a lot in the grand scheme of things and will do far less damage than the 5-10g of sugar usually found in creamer.

There seems to be a lot of recent researcher at suggests the whole saturated fat thing was a bit of a red herring and that fats, particularly from dairy were never actually the cause of anything. Indeed that the whole of the U.S. has taken 'saturated fat' off the list of things to watch, I'm not entirely sure I would be that bothered about a little drop of cream in coffee every now and again to be honest 😉

I appreciate all the replies and info Thanks everyone
Since I've been eating LCHF (well not so well lately) my cholestrol has gone up to 8.8 and my GP suggests statins at every opportunity. My ratios arn't too bad Trigs .87, but there's a niggling fear that I'm overdoing the saturated fat. I prob drink 5 coffees a day with cream Now I'm 'hooked'! Maybe LC and not so high fats would be better for me.

Trigs of 0.87 "aren't bad"?

That's ruddy brilliant!

Ideal levels are less than 1.7 so you're doing AMAZING.

I'd be far less worried about the total cholesterol. The ratio is what counts.

Thanks Deus You've just inspired me to have a coffee with double cream! 🙂
I just wish we were all on the same page with cholesterol Life would be much less stressful!

I've dispensed with the pleasantries now on the subject of statins and just say no, they keep trying to peddle them to me and I've never had a cholesterol reading over 4.3. They see diabetic and think statins. I actually wonder if they ever consider that a good proportion of diabetes distress is actually caused by them 🙄
