Fasting in type 2 diabetes

Interesting that some of you stuck with an evening meal. I was under the impression that this was the worst time to eat - though with breakfast being notoriously tricky for T2s perhaps a big breakfast wouldn’t be ideal either.

I’ve seen people doing 5:2 days with some success and certainly seen a presentation at a conference which showed pretty promising results from intermittent fasting, so it’s being studied by the diabetes academics.

I can't remember the exact figure, but as a high percentage of T2's are overweight at diagnosis, the general feeling is that any type of calorie reduction can only be beneficial, which certainly benefited me.

i see today i read about Tom Watson the Labour deputy leader losing over 7 stone in 18 months by having no sugar at all in his diet and exercising a lot more

I suspect that my metabolism was affected by all the dieting I tried to do and not losing weight on low calorie diets - my metabolism just shut down rather than lose body mass.
When taking Metformin I used to eat lunch and dinner - after doing all my errands in the morning, but I felt dreadful.
After giving up the tablets I had a BG meter and found that my numbers rose all morning if I did not eat. I decided to eat breakfast and dinner as that is easiest if I am away from home for the day, and I am less insulin resistant in the evenings.
