I ate a mars bar, I a only human. Regrets regrets but I did enjoy it. BG went to 9.4

That doesn’t sound too terrible! You’re allowed a treat occasionally, as long as it is only occasionally and not every day then it won’t do any harm. Glad you enjoyed it!

Most of us fall off the wagon now and again. We also know that we cannot repeat it too often or we will be back to square one. A Mars bar is not a criminal offence! So glad that you enjoyed it. There have to be treats in life or it is very dull. 🙂

Yes I agree. The occasional treat is fine. I had one today, but it was carb limited...a smallish chocolate eclair.

That does not sound too bad. People without diabetes have recorded numbers in the 9s when they eat something carby like a Mars bar.
I guess the secret is not to get too used to the taste so you crave more but as a treat, there is no need to feel guilty - the wagon is next to you waiting for you to remount.

We've all been there! The important thing is to not make a moment a long period of time so do your best to get some extra water an exercise and get back to what has been working for you!

Yes it's all fine to have a treat I have no problem with that but, it depends on how you use food or treats. If it's just a treat because you fancy it all good but if you use food as a pick me up when feeling abit down or fed up then that's a different story. These treats got me here in the first place as I used foods to make me feel better mentally so I now see them differently I now have treats that do me no harm.

Just be honest with yourself that's all.

We all need a treat sometimes, and you were still in single figures though @rosalindb

Well today I am back on the D wagon. I feel lucky that it did not do too much damage BG wise. As has been mentioned as long as it is not a regular thing thats ok. What was I thinking? Or not thinking rather lol. At least it was not as bad as a slice of toast I had weeks ago (following NHS dietary advice) where BG went from 5.9 to 12.9 on one slice of wholemeal bread. I find I am craving beans on toast, but not going there. Oh for grilled cheese on toast, I wish! I could but do not want the rotten feeling afterwards. Put it this way, I would rather not be a blind amputee hooked up to a dialysis machine...seriously. I know that is worst case scenario but I can be pessimistic lol. I saw what my late brother went through with kidney failure and no way am I going there, I have a manageable condition, he didn't.

Very true about not getting used to it, its the first time I have had one in so long.

It was a treat but it will not be a habit

Yes and I miss beans on toast as well, on the tv at the moment they are advertising a raspberry Magnum ice cream, it make me salivate just watching it. Obviously I am talking about my own relationship with food and not suggesting for a moment you have any issue with food 🙂 .

Try frozen raspberries, mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, blitz up and eat straight away.
