This last week, I have really fallen off the wagon.
I had my weekly report off my Insulinx meter yesterday...only twice was I "low, once i was on target, the rest were all high.

I really need to focus again and back to the nice lower figures I was seeing.
Why do we fall off the wagon every now and then?
This morning, I have felt really tired...how I used to feel when my BG's were high...not nice. I really don't want to start back at the beginning again...

We do fall off the wagon from time to time. None of us is good all the time. For my part it is because I am a bored nibbler and a comfort eater. I eat when am bored with what ever I am doing or when I am feeling down.😱

I hope things improve for you again soon.

I'm known as pretty much 'Mr Perfect Levels' by those who love me, and something far less salubrious by those who don't (I suspect! 😉), but I fall off the wagon every now and then - I'm trying to see if there is a pattern! For example, the other week my 7-day average was 5.4 mmol/l, but it's currently 7.2, which goes to show how things can fluctuate. I try not to get too stressed about it though as having those sorts of levels from time to time are still not too bad. So unless you're really losing control, try just to put it down to experience and come back to it with a renewed determination 🙂 I think sometimes we forget that even non-Ds have their good and bad times, it's just that we can see it directly in our numbers!

Have you fallen off the wagon though? Why do you think you have? Because the numbers have crept up, or because you've been eating stuff you shouldn't? Since starting with the Insulinx last November my Hba1c has crept up from 5.6 to 6.1 and in June 6.3. I have 3 different ratios set for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I often have breakfast after 10 am and I only this week discovered that the "breakfast time block" is 6 - 10am and the lunch time block starts at 10am. I'd been puzzling why my pre-lunch numbers these days are never as good as they used to be.... obviously because I've been relying on the insulinx to give me the correct dose.

If your averages are higher than you'd like them to be Doddy, have a good think why that might be, rather than necessarily blaming yourself.

I think I am eating things I shouldn't be! I was craving chocolate last week. I was a chocoholic before dx, and then haven't had any since dx in April. But last week, I purchased some gorgeous choc from tesco that was on offer. I know I shouldn't have done, but I did. Since then, I am testing less too.

It's not i don't care what my BG is...I do, and I don't want to creep up, i don't know why I am testing less, and am eating things I shouldn't. I do care, and I am bothered...

Doddy, don't sweat it. This happens to all of us. I think we all go through phases where we test a bit less and are a bit less thoughtful on our diet, for much the same reason people take holidays. We get a bit fed up and need a break. Half the battle is recognising when you're doing this, so you've already got one foot back on the wagon.

The trick is getting the other one back on it too. It's like giving up smoking - you'll need to want to do it, rather than just do it because you think you should. You'll need to find what will motivate you.
